COMPUTER-AIDED ENGINEERING (CADE)

The objective of the professional program in computer-aided engineering is to train engineers in the use of computers and the available software in their fields of speciality.

Program Requirements

Candidates for the certificate must complete:

  • Three core courses
  • Three elective courses (two can be chosen from another program)

Core Courses:
 

CADE 001
 CADE 001: Data mining and Business Intelligence Analytics for Engineers using Excel

This course examines the usage of formulas, probabilities and statistics in Excel and spreadsheet software in general. 

CADE 002
 CADE 002: Computer-Aided Graphics (AutoCAD)

This course provides an introduction to AutoCAD including how to setup the environment and utilize 2D and 3D tools.

 CADE 004 CADE 004: Planning and Scheduling with Primavera Project Management

This course introduces project planning and management concepts along with the Primavera Project Management software. 

 
Elective Courses (Choose three, two can be chosen from another program):
 

 CADE 005  CADE 005: Design of Reinforced and Steel Structures Using Excel

This course examines the usage of Excel to design reinforced and steel structures. Topics include the design of as reinforced beams and concrete columns, among other structure types.

 CADE 011 CADE 011: Advanced Computer-Aided Graphics and Animation (3D Studio Max)

Prerequisite: CADE 002 
This course introduces the key concepts of the 3D Studio Max graphics software, including modeling and animation techniques. 

 CADE 012 CADE 012: Computer-Aided Structural Analysis for Civil Engineers

This course examines key topics related to structural analysis and software tools that can be utilized to assist with structural analysis and modeling. 

 CADE 013 CADE 013: Modeling and Analysis of Tall Buildings

Prerequisite: Knowledge of SAP 2000 
This course examines how structural modeling techniques and concepts can be applied to tall buildings.

 CADE 014 CADE 014: Advanced Primavera Project Management

Prerequisite: CADE 004 
This course examines how to manage multiple projects in Primavera and key topics related to multiple project management.

 CADE 020 CADE 020: Advanced Techniques in 3D Presentations for Architects and Engineers

Prerequisite: Knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max 
This course examines advanced techniques related to 3D modeling such as lighting and rendering strategies and chroma keying. It also trains participants on the preparation process that must take place in order to use architectural drawings in 3D Studio Max. 

 CADE 021 CADE 021: Machine Design (Introduction to Solid Works)

This course introduces the key concepts related to machine design.
